This is the web site of the
Friends of the Cheshire Youth Orchestras
Here you will find information about the:

Cheshire Youth Orchestra
and
Cheshire Youth Training Orchestra.
The Cheshire Youth Orchestra and the Cheshire Youth Training Orchestra (CYO and CYTO) are now managed by the Cheshire West and Chester Music Service (also called QLP Music - Quality Learning Partners).

The Cheshire Youth Orchestra comprises some of the most talented young musicians from all over Cheshire. The Cheshire Youth Orchestra and the Cheshire Youth Training Orchestra provide a fun and friendly environment where young musicians can meet and play in a symphony orchestra setting on a regular basis to develop their musical skills.

The minimum standard for entry to the CYO varies by instrument, but you are most likely to have passed Grade 6.

For the CYTO, the minimum standard is Grade 3.

In certain circumstances, assistance with instrument hire can be provided.

We have two fantastic conductors, the best tutors and we are now established as the premier youth orchestra in the region.

Many of our members go on to Music College, conservatoires or university and make successful careers in music; others just enjoy the challenge of being part of a unique and exciting group of young musicians.

A membership fee is payable, and for 2012-2013 it has been set at £90, payable in either 3 installments, or with a £5 discount if paid in full in September.

We are delighted that Peter Donohoe CBE has agreed to be patron of the Cheshire Youth Orchestras.  This exciting news was announced during the highly successful concert with Peter and both orchestras at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on 24th June 2012.
